Monthly Report – December 2024

Monthly Report:Fostering Collaboration, Accelerating Mass adoption of Solana in Japan

What a Wonderful Year It Has Been!

Since the launch of Superteam Japan in May 2024, we can proudly say that we have never stopped moving forward, always embracing challenges. Events such as Super Tokyo in August, organized with the cooperation of community members, have steadily rooted Solana’s presence in Japan.

What’s truly remarkable is the significant increase in Japanese Solana builders. Triggered by the Radar Global Hackathon, many developers chose to take on challenges with Solana, discovering the strong support for builders across the Solana ecosystem. Hearing their positive reviews, more developers have been drawn to Solana.

The following video is an interview with builders conducted after the Radar Hackathon.

– Impressions of Radar Hackathon

– Superteam’s support system

– Advice for future hackathons

This honest and candid video recorded over 14,000 impressions, becoming a significant appeal not only to the Solana community but also to developers in other ecosystems.

2025 will be a breakthrough year for both Solana and Superteam Japan. We will continue to challenge and move forward—always advancing!

Events summary in December:

Solana Hackathon Study Session

An online study session for hackathon preparation, initiated spontaneously by community builders. It was a time filled with rich discussions, boosting builders’ motivation.

Super Game Jam Japanese Summary Lecture

A localized version of the Super Game Jam workshops held multiple times on Superteam Vietnam’s Discord. Led by Yuki, a Superteam Japan Member and Metaplex Japan, the workshop received praise for its clarity and accessibility.

Solana Builders Night

A networking event where teams with exceptional results from the Radar Hackathon met with leading investors in Japan’s crypto industry. Attendees were captivated by the powerful pitches from Solana builders.

Cudis Product Launch AMA

An AMA celebrating the launch of Cudis’ new smart ring. Japan, being one of the top user regions, saw around 100 participants connect in real-time. With live interpretation, questions from participants exceeded 30, making it a valuable session for both the project team and users.

Monke DAO Christmas

The Japan Monkes Telegram group was launched in November, and Monke Christmas was finally held in Japan.

There are many SMB holders among the Superteam Japan Members, and we were able to get closer to Monke DAO in an instant!

Thank you Justin Lee for coming to Japan!

Jito AMA

We held an AMA with Sushie, a Superteam Japan member who also works in Jito, and Aoi, another Japanese who also works in Jito. More than 100 listeners came to the event, as it is Solana’s representative project and the latest information is available in Japanese.

The event covered topics ranging from the Jito project overview to the current trend of restaking, as well as JIP8 and JUP10, and was well-received as satisfying content for both light and heavy users.

Solana Developer Hub

Developer Hub has been held monthly. The last one of the year was held at Shibuya Centrum. Participants learned about Solana’s technology and deepened their connections while enjoying light refreshments.

Thank you to Superteam Japan Member Kinzal, who has been at the center of planning the event for the past year, and fellow members Yuki, tapotapoyaki, and SHO, who spoke at this event!

Super Game Jam Pitch

After workshops and development since November, Super Game Jam has finally concluded with a pitch competition.

Meme Track Winner – Loot GO

Main Track Special Award – Tokyo Stupid Games, Windfall

The Japanese team achieved the above amazing results! Congratulations!

Proto Map-a-thon

The first event in Japan for the DePIN app “Proto,” which allows users to create maps and reviews, was held in Osaka.

Most of the users were using the app for the first time, and under Yuma’s guidance, participants learned everything from installing the app to how to use it, and actually tried it out with each other.

It was a great opportunity to talk with members who were meeting for the first time.

Solana Cafe in Osaka

Japan’s first Solana-themed cafe was held over six days.

The event was made possible through collaboration with cafeBLOCK, run by Kudasai JP, one of the top Japanese Web3 companies, and with the full support of Backpack.

The Solana-themed food and drink, and special offers for new and existing Backpack wallet users, attracted attention, and the number of visitors at cafeBLOCK was far more than double compared to normal business hours.

With the cooperation of Venta, a rare attempt was made in Japan to use cryptocurrency as a payment method, and 50% of visitors chose to pay with USDC.

Solana Cafe was highly successful in promoting Solana in Japan.

Blockchain Lures Joint AMA

Blockchain Lures, the operator of the Solana-based Fish to Earn app, hosted the event alongside Superteam Japan, Bitpoint (one of Japan’s major cryptocurrency exchanges), and Cointelegraph Japan (a leading crypto media outlet).

A joint AMA was held with participation from these four parties.

The discussion was lively, covering topics such as the current status and future prospects of Solana and Blockchain Lures in Japan, as well as plans for Japan’s largest bass fishing tournament, scheduled for next spring.

Looking ahead, Blockchain Lures aims to tap into the global bass fishing market, which has over 10 million enthusiasts, while Superteam Japan plans to work closely with them to drive mass adoption.

Solana Official Documentation Study Group

The Solana Official Documentation Study Session led by community members has become a regular event. By providing opportunities for participants to learn together, the knowledge base is improved.

Web3 Business Hub

A special end-of-year online event was held by Web3 Business Hub, a paid membership community for Japanese companies that are forward-thinking about Web3.

Yuki, a Superteam Japan member, took the stage as a speaker and talked with speakers from other blockchains about looking back on this year and predicting trends for next year.

Year-end Party with Akshay

At the end of the year, Akshay, founder of Superteam, finally came to Japan! It was a rare opportunity to talk directly with him about the future of Solana and Superteam.

We feel happy to be able to end the year with such an event. Thank you, Akshay, for coming to Japan!

Plans for the Upcoming Month:

Next month, we will be holding a meetup event with Google Cloud Japan on January 23rd, focusing on “Solana” and “Gaming”.

We have already reached half of our target number of attendees, and we are feeling the great response. Through events like this, we will also deepen our connections with developers in Web2 and work to increase the number of Solana builders.

Closing Remarks:

In December, Superteam Japan held many events, but the response to Solana Cafe was particularly overwhelming.

The opening announcement tweet received over 150,000 impressions, and according to a survey, 90% of the visitors came to the cafe because they learned about the collaboration campaign through social media or word of mouth.

This was a very successful example of approaching a target audience that is not usually familiar with Solana.

Solana was also adopted for a collaborative NFT project between SBI VC Trade, one of Japan’s major cryptocurrency exchanges, and Fruits Zipper, one of Japan’s top idol groups!

We will continue to promote collaboration campaigns with all genres to strengthen the mass adoption of Solana.

And one more good news. Windfall, the third place winner in the gaming track of the Radar Hackathon, has released their own LST on Sanctum. They are steadily moving forward towards the launch of their product! Can’t wait!

See you next month’s report!
